Description |
Rhizome ascending; rhizome scales linear in outline, to 10 x 0.5 mm with long marginal processes. Fronds tufted, gemmiferous, thickly herbaceous. Stipe light brown to straw coloured, to 65 cm long, hairless, with a few scales near the base and in the grooves on the upper surface. Lamina dark green, pentagonal in outline, to 145 x 100 cm, 3-pinnate to 4-pinnatifid, upper surface hairless, lower surface covered in stout white hairs and tiny glands. Pinnae with the lowermost pair much enlarged and basiscopically developed, 30–52 x 25–30 cm. Ultimate segments oblique, narrowly oblong in outline, apex pointed to rounded; veins free, not reaching margin, with few stiff, spreading hairs on lower surface. Rhachis winged near apex, straw coloured; pinna rhachis hairy on upper surface, hairless on lower surface; costae with short brownish appressed hairs. Sori rounded, 1–1.8 mm in diameter, exindusiate. |
